Play days

Twice a year we host a play day based at a venue in the south Manchester area. We welcome members and non-members to come together and play some musical gems from the classical repertoire. It’s an informal day punctuated by our all-important social coffee break as well as an hour for lunch.

Next Play Day- Saturday 27th april

10am - 5pm
St Matthew’s Community Hall, Chapel Lane, Stretford,
Manchester, M32 9AJ

The focus will be on Mendelssohn’s Symphony no.3 (the Scottish). The fee will be £8 for the day which will include the provision of light refreshments. Participants are invited to bring a packed lunch and a music stand.

Currently, there are still places for a first bassoon, two French horns, and a trumpet, as well as opportunities in all the string sections. A timpanist with their own instruments would also be very welcome.

If you are interested in taking part in our next play day then we would love to hear from you. Please enquire to Frank Lennon (Conductor)

“I endeavour to make each rehearsal as enjoyable as possible and to encourage the orchestra to perform to the best of its ability.”
